# Platforms

The Sources section gives you visibility into where your data is coming from — broken down by platform, channel, and user role. It helps you understand message volume, direction, and quality across every connected integration.

The section is organized into three tabs: **Platforms**, **Channels**, and **Role Distribution**.

### Platforms

The Platforms tab is the default view, showing how activity is distributed across your connected social platforms.

**Two toggle controls** at the top let you customize the view:

* **Content / Users** (top left) — Switch between message-level metrics (volume, direction, sentiment) and user-level metrics (active users, customers, agents, messages per user).
* **Detailed / Aggregated** (top right) — Detailed queries raw data in real-time for accuracy; Aggregated uses pre-computed hourly snapshots for faster performance on large date ranges.

**Platform Breakdown**

The Platform Breakdown table is the core of the Sources view — it gives you a side-by-side comparison of activity across every connected platform so you can immediately see where your conversations are happening and how they're being handled.

Each platform is displayed as a row with the following metrics:

* **Platform** — The source name (e.g., Discord, X, Instagram, Slack) with its brand icon.
* **Total** — Total message volume (or total users in Users mode) for the selected period.
* **Incoming** — Messages received from customers, shown as a count with a proportional bar and percentage of total. In Users mode, this shows customer count.
* **Outgoing** — Messages sent by your team, with the same bar and percentage breakdown. In Users mode, this shows agent count.
* **Analyzed** — How many messages Sift's AI has processed, with a bar showing the analysis rate.
* **Actions** — How many messages resulted in actionable items for your team, with the action rate percentage.

A **totals row** at the bottom aggregates all platforms into a single summary line.

Click any platform row to drill into a dedicated detail page with channel-level breakdowns, content quality scores, sentiment distribution, and performance trends specific to that platform.
