Set it up

The X / Twitter settings page in Sift, showing connected accounts (account names redacted for the docs).
X / Twitter settings in Sift - manage connected accounts here.

Go to Settings → Integrations → X / Twitter and:

  1. Authenticate with the X account you want to monitor - you need admin access on the handle.
  2. Pick what to track: mentions are on by default; toggle DMs separately.
  3. Add keywords / hashtags: send the list to your Sift contact (see callout below).
  4. Connect additional accounts the same way if you have more than one.

Sift requests read + write so it can both ingest activity and post replies on your behalf. Revoke any time from X's account settings.

What you can do

Reply, quote-tweet, or DM any inbound directly from the inbox - Sift posts back as the connected account. Attach images or video to outbound posts. Delete a tweet you sent from Sift (cleanup or correction).

Trigger workflows off any inbound signal - sentiment, language, keyword match, source account. Route to the right team automatically. Apply auto-reply bots for FAQ patterns or off-hours acknowledgement.

Multi-handle brand families work without mixing channels: each connected handle is tracked independently but everything lands in the same inbox, filterable by source account.

Keyword + hashtag tracking

Beyond your own mentions, Sift can surface tweets from across X that match terms you care about - your-brand-name, #yourbrand, a product name, or any combination. The author doesn't have to tag you.

Keyword tracking is managed by the Sift team rather than self-serve, so you don't accidentally exceed the quota that comes with our X plan. Send your keyword list to your Sift contact and we'll wire it up.

Every inbound is tagged with why it matched (mention vs reply vs quote vs keyword vs hashtag) so you can filter and route on the match type, not just the platform.

What Sift ingests

  • Mentions of the connected handle - @your-handle and any post tagging it
  • Replies to your tweets, threaded back to the original
  • Quote tweets: when someone reposts your tweet with their own commentary
  • Keyword + hashtag matches across X (per the list you give to Sift)
  • Direct messages to the connected account, threaded as conversations in the inbox

Not supported today

  • Spaces: audio rooms aren't ingested.
  • Lists: no per-list tracking.
  • Polls: readable in captured tweets, but Sift can't create polls.
  • Threaded tweet authoring: outbound is single tweets only; long-form replies should be drafted off-platform.

If any of these matter for your workflow, let us know - they're on the request list, not the "never" list.
