The Discord Setup Page has three core areas:
Server Setup: Add/Remove Discord Servers from Sift.
Channel Tracking: Start tracking and monitoring a channel and getting insight from Sift's AI Analytics
In general, all you need to do is add your Server, go into the OAuth Flow (which will install the Sift app), pick channels to track. To enable support features, you can easily set up a Support Channel with a Panel so users can start creating their conversations.
After you hit connect, the app will redirect you to Discord to install the bot. This shows the list of permissions that Sift needs and prompts you to install the app. When you're done, you'll go right back to Sift and you should be ready to go and channels.
If you want to learn more about our permissions and why we need them, see Discord permissions:
Channel Tracking
To start receiving data from Sift, you'll have to tell us what channels to track. We'll start reading the data from these channels to build dashboards and reports about your community.
You may see some channels listed as Missing Permissions. This requires you to go to Discord and make sure that the Sift bot has "View Channel" permissions in any channel you want us to be able to read. After that's done - refresh the page and Sift will make sure it has permission to start reading the content in these channels.
In the next section, we'll walk through the different permissions we use on Discord
